CodeGear Leaves Borland Forever
As reported earlier,
Embarcadero Technologies completed the acquisition of
CodeGear. Embarcadero bought CodeGear from its parent company
Borland for a sum of USD 24.5 millions. CodeGear is now integrated into Embarcadero Technologies and will continue to operate as a private company under the leadership of current Embarcadero CEO Wayne Williams.
Subsequent to the acquisition, Embarcadero will have USD 100 million in annual revenue and over 500 employees worldwide. The combined entity expects to server more than three million application developers and database professionals. Embarcadero's professional database tools will be marketed under the DatabaseGear brand, and its application developer tools will be encompassed under the CodeGear brand.
